Dimensions: 7-1/8" tall, 2-1/4" diameter mouth, 3-3/4" diameter base

Holds 1 liter of liquid.

This antique is one of the original patents/designs of Mason's jars and has what's called an "abnormal shape" for a mason jar. It is aquamarine in color and has a zinc lid with the original porcelain seal still intact.

The front of the jar is embossed with "Mason's" above the "Hero/Maltese Cross". Faintly embossed on each wing of the cross are the letters "H,F, J and Co." for "Hero Fruit Jar Company". Below the cross it reads "Patent Nov. 30th 1858".

The bottom of the jar reads "Pat Nov. 26 67" with the numbers "513" in the middle.


The inside of the jar has some white hazing to it. There are several bubbles in the glass from manufacturing and one of the bubbles towards the bottom has the outside layer broken, but the jar still holds liquid. The rim of the mouth has some small chips and a crack in it, but the lid still screws on without issue.
