Product Overview
Vintage Perimetric Lens Half-Frame Rim 12K Gold Filled Bifocal Reading Glasses
Lens dimensions: 46mm wide, 40mm tall, bridge is 20mm across.
"The bridge is marked ''AO 1/10 12K GF'', the frame is marked ''AO NUMONT FUL-VUE E 46'' and the arms read ''B&L 1/10 12K GF''. The markings mean the frame is 12 karat gold-filled. The bridge is engraved with deco diamonds and triangles, the frame and temples are engraved with an alternating ray and triangle pattern.
"This frame style is called the ''Numont'' for the innovative single lens hole mounting design. This particular pair is especially striking for the lenses in it - a very unusual shape and a great demonstration that you really can have any sort of lens shape in a Numont frame! The traditional lens shape is called a perimetric, rounded on the top and octagonal on the bottom. Notice the little leaf springs at the bridge, a really great design element AO called the ''Tri-Flex''. They keep the lenses snug to the bridge, but also offer a little ''give'' to help with odd bending or damage."
Pre-owned condition. Missing one of the arms and there's a small chip in the top corner of one lens. Nose pads need replacing. See photos for details.
